Celebrate World Theatre Day at the 14th Annual Ottawa Theatre Challenge at the NAC's Fourth Stage, March 27th, 2014

The 14th Annual Ottawa Theatre Challenge

International World Theatre Day, Original Creation and… Chickens???

Thursday March 27th at 7pm the Ottawa Theatre Challenge returns to the NAC Fourth Stage for it’s 14th year! For a few hilarious hours Ottawa’s bravest and boldest theatre companies will strut their stuff in the hopes of taking home the coveted Rubber Chicken Award and the title of Best Theatre Company in Ottawa.

The Ottawa Theatre Challenge, hosted each year by a Company of Fools, is a celebration of International World Theatre Day.  The Challenge brings together theatre companies from across the region providing an opportunity for artists to give back to the community.  Last year’s Challenge raised funds for the ALS Society of Canada.  This year’s proceeds will be donated to the Actors’ Fund of Canada – which provides emergency financial aid to assist cultural workers in recovering from an illness, injury or other circumstances causing severe economic and personal hardship.

Reigning champions THE GLADSTONE will return to defend the title from a slew of hungry challengers who are chomping at the bit to take them down.  This year’s line up includes a bevy of local theatre companies chomping at the bit to win.  Their quest:  to create and present original works of theatre based on three MYSTERY ITEMS of inspiration in a total of 48 hours.  The competition will be fierce with feathers flying, sullying the atmosphere around the easily swayed judges.

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster or in person at the NAC box office
